Ryan Torain

Ryan Torain

Ryan Torain could end up being this years Ryan Grant. The Denver RB has missed the entire season up to this point due to an elbow injury but prior to the injury had nearly taken over the starting RB position in camp and is high on Mike Shanahan's list. A 6-1 225 pound RB is scary but when you mix in the fact that he runs the 40 in 4.6 (this was clocked while recovering from a foot injury he suffered while still at Arizona State) it makes his physical ability scary.

Torain is expected back after Denver's Week 8 bye. As the season wears on the natural attrition of Defense's will start to take effect and produce more opportunities for RB's in general. Add in the fact that Young, Hall and Pittman have not gotten it done in the running game and Torain is a sleeper with huge upside. Shanahan is famous for turning RB's into stars and favors a strong running game over the pass happy offense they have had to rely on so far this season, mainly due to the ineffectiveness of the running game. Shanahan was quoted in a local Denver paper as comparing Torain to the great Terrell Davis and referring to Torain as one of the most impressive young backs he has ever seen. Overall he is their best option with regards to size and speed and they return against the Miami Dolphins who pose a great opportunity for him to shine. After that the Broncos face Cleveland, Atlanta, Oakland, NYJ and Kansas City.
