Week 5 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Kevin Hoffman - USA Today Sports
The waiver wire is open for Week 5 and it's time to get out there and find some bye-week fillers, injury spot starters, and trade bait gold.  Any players on your bench that you plan on not using or are just taking up space?  Let's go ahead and dump some of those mid-tier players and take some chances.

Double Check Waiver Wire (players that should not be on the waiver wire):

Michael Bennett (TE, CHI) - He is up and down, but overall he is a solid TE and can be a weekly starter in your TE position.

Must Grab:

Fred Jackson (RB, BUF) - Jackson had a solid game and found the end-zone.  Spiller will most likely not play this week giving Jackson a opportunity to have a solid day.  He is a wonderful bye-week filler this week and spot starter for Spiller owners.

Danny Woodhead (RB, SD) - he has been on this list every week and if you are in a PPR league he can be started without worry.  Phillip Rivers looks his way and his is not a bad receiver either.

Rashad Jennings (RB, OAK) - He was given a ton of carries this weekend, but don't expect him to set the world on fire.  He should continue to get a ton of carries next week and is a solid pick-up.  He will only be good for a short time, but nice to have for the bye week.

Phillip Rivers (QB, SD) - second highest passing rating to Peyton Manning through three weeks.  He is now a solid back-up QB and can replace your current QB if he is underperforming.

Chris Humphreys - USA Today Sports
Grab:

Heath Miller (TE, PIT) - he was on the field a ton even though his production didn't truly show it.  If you are looking for help at the TE position Miller is able to produce and does find the end-zone.

Benny Cunningham (RB, StL) - The Rams are trying everything and Cunningham seems like the next RB to get a chance.  He is only worth stashing at this point as a flyer.

Justin Blackmon (WR, JAX) - he is coming back now from his suspension.  Don't expect a ton out of the gate but may be worth a stash at this point.

Jaquizz Rodgers (RB, ATL) - he is getting the majority of the workload and now seeing the passing down plays.  He is a flex for PPR leagues.

Roy Helu (RB, WAS) - if Alfred Morris misses time due to rib injury Helu is a nice spot starter and has enough skill to post solid numbers.

Marlon Brown (WR, BAL) - had a solid outing this week, but the bottom line is that he is going to be up and down and is a risk to start.

Santonio Holmes (WR, NYJ) - Didn't see enough catches this week to make him an every week starter, but he is a bye week filler if you are in need of a WR.  Keep an eye on his injury status.

Jerome Simpson (WR, MIN) - Simpson is putting up numbers regardless of the QB, so he is a bye week filler at this point.

Alshon Jeffery (WR, CHI) - Jeffery had a career game, but Jeffery is boom or bust so to put him in every week is not an option.  He is however worth a bench spot.

Andre Ellington (RB, ARZ) - splitting time with Mendenhall, but if you are in a PPR league he is getting the passing plays and has good hands.  A nice bench builder at this point.

Brian Hoyer (QB, CLE) - Hoyer is leading the Browns to wins so he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job and is able to put up TD's.

Nate Washington (WR, TEN) - Looks like it is clear who is the main beneficiary of Kenny Britt taking some time off.  Nate Washington is a bench stash for now even with Fitzpatrick at QB.

LeGarrett Blount (RB, NE) - with Boldin more than likely missing time and Vereen still out Blount will continue to get carries.  He is a high/risk reward starter but someone to consider.

Watch:

Tashard Choice (RB, BUF) - he will play behind Fred Jackson this week but will be given an opportunity for carries.  Choice also does make receptions so keep him in mind for PPR leagues.

Willis McGahee (RB, CLE) - he will emerge so keep him stashed on your bench.

Bryce Brown (RB, PHI) - keep an eye on McCoy's status and if McCoy happens to miss any time Brown is a nice starter.

Matt Cassel (QB, MIN) - Filled in well enough for Ponder and is only worth considering in two QB leagues.

Robert Woods (WR, BUF) - dynasty league owners can absolutely take note, but otherwise he is an extreme flyer from week to week.

Brandon Pettigrew (TE, DET) - Nate Burleson goes down and Pettigrew is the main winner in targets. He is worth considering in PPR leagues.

Jonathan Stewart (RB, CAR) - almost ready to come back, he has the talent, but unsure if he will get the carries.  Stay tuned.

Terrence Williams (WR, DAL) - Miles Austin could miss multiple weeks and if you are in a deep league then Williams is a reach, but should find a way to get catches for sure.  He made a lot of mistakes so his value this season is a bit capped.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB, TEN) - Locker's injury didn't look too good.  Fitzpatrick has been a starter before so you could do worse, but worth a strong consideration in two QB leagues.

Garrett Graham (TE, HOU) - keep an eye on this kid.

Kellen Winslow (TE, NYJ) - Stephen Hill went down and Winslow saw a ton of catches, don't expect this weekly, but a TE to monitor.
