Well a lot has occurred in the past 24 hours including a change of the guard it appears in the AFC South with the Titans proving they are the real deal. Here is our daily post of Hatty's Afternoon Delight:
Don't Call it a Comeback!
Out of no where today it appears there is a new Quarterback on the verge on making a comeback into the league with Daunte Culpepper working out for the Lions and reportedly turning down the Chiefs due to his interest in the Lions job. I am not sure at this point if he is an insurance option for Dan Orlovsky or if the front office noticed what a lot of us did this past Sunday in regards to Orlovsky looking like he has what it takes to get the Lions to the win column. For those in dynasty and deep leagues with some spots on your bench open monitor this situation as Culpepper could turn out to be a decent option in a few weeks if he makes it back. Especially with the attrition of QB's this season we may see Troy Aikman come out of the booth soon.
Witten Hitten!
It looks like the MRI on Jason Wittens ribs has revealed that some are broken. Witten being the hard nosed player that he is seems confident he will play and I am not sure if there is anyone in Dallas big enough to stand in his way. Fantasy owners keep close tabs on this situation as it sounds eerily similar to what kept Brian Westbrook out for the Eagles for a few weeks.
Need a QB?
I mentioned this yesterday and it became official not too long after but Shaun Hill is in as the starting QB for the 49ers. Vernon Davis is apologizing and it appears that Mike Singletary has taken control of the team. Hill looked strong in the second half on Sunday and anyone who is contemplating whether to start Fitzpatrick or Pennington this week should take a chance on this guy as he has some weapons around him.
Santonio not Suspended..yet!
Mike Tomlin announced that Santonio Holmes will play in the week 9 Monday Night game for the Steelers. With the suspension for the drug charges sure to be drawn out as much as possible if not into next season Holmes looks to be a solid option at WR this week. With the nice play by Nate Washington last week don't be surprised to see Santonio's production take a slight hit however.
Hasslecrap!
It looks as though Matt Hasselbeck, who has been a major disappointment this season, will likely miss the week 9 game for the Seahawks adding to yet another QB situation. For those who have been hanging on the Hasslebeck you may want to snag Seneca Wallace if the Bye Week has you struggling to fill your lineup.
Injury Updates:
-Bills WR Josh Reed is out indefinitely
- Stephen Jackson should be in the lineup this week for the Rams
- Deon Branch scratched a shoulder and is apparently out for eternity at the rate he is going.
- Santana Moss is listed and questionable after tweaking a hammy
- Bucs Safety Jermaine Phillips is out 4-6 weeks; anyone playing with IDP need to snag his replacement and for Buccaneers DST owners be prepared.
