2012 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 3

Debby Wong - US PRESSWIRE
Week 3 waiver wire is upon us and we have well over 20 players at all positions for you to consider.  Time to get to the waiver wire and start making your pickups.  Waiver Wire work wins leagues.

5 Star Pick-ups

David Wilson/Andre Brown (RB, NYG) - If Ahmad Bradshaw misses next week then Wilson and Brown’s value rises.  Brown is currently the stronger of the two backs and has the ability to put up points only if Bradshaw is out next week.

Mikel LeShoure (RB, DET) - Pick him up now as he is not going to be around long after he takes the starting job away from Kevin Smith.

4 Star Pick-ups

Daryl Richardson (RB, StL) - Steven Jackson’s hamstring injury allowed Richardson to take over as the feature RB.  This shows the future of the StL Rams RB situation.  Dynasty league players you need to take note.

Kenny Britt (WR, TEN) - Britt didn't show much to us in Week 2 but we fully expect that to change as he becomes more familiar with the offense and QB.

Rashard Mendenhall (RB, PIT) - Dwyer and Redman just don't look like they are getting it done in Pit, so Mendenhall makes a nice stash on your bench.

Alex Smith (QB, SF) - Smith has been extremely impressive and is starting to put up points worthy of a fantasy back-up with occasional spot starter.

Andrew Luck (QB, IND) - Luck is going to be throwing a ton in 2012 and is a nice back-up QB due to his fantasy production.

Brent Celek (TE, PHI) - Celek can take over for your underperforming TE and with Maclin nursing an injury should continue to see many targets from Vick.

Austin Collie (WR, IND) - once he returns he will be productive in an offense that must throw the football.  If you are looking for a WR then look towards Collie.

Owen Daniels (TE, HOU) - I wrote about him and spoke about him last week, but you must know when Daniels is healthy he is a big target for Schaub and can replace your underperforming TE if you need one.

Brandon LaFell (WR, CAR) - LaFell is starting to be used in a number of plays.  If you are in a PPR league LaFell should be grabbed.   LaFell will give you some down weeks in production, but he is steadily climbing the rankings.

Ben Tate (RB, HOU) - Tate should not be on your waiver wire, but if you do find him on the waiver wire go ahead and pick him up as Foster has had injury issues and if Foster goes down then Tate is a stud.

Greg Little (WR, CLE) - finally found the endzone but it’s quite hard on the Browns offense.  Now that Richardson is starting to show solid signs this will open up the pass game and give Little more production.

Dennis Pitta (TE, BAL) - Pitta was targeted 15 times in the game this Sunday.  If your TE is underperforming and especially if you are in PPR league take a look at Pitta.

Danny Amendola (WR, StL) - Becoming Bradford’s go to target and should only be considered in a PPR leagues.

3 Star Pick-ups

Christian Ponder (QB, MIN) - he hasn’t been looking too bad and he can be your bye week QB.

Sam Bradford (QB, StL) - finally looking stronger, but he doesn’t have enough weapons around him to be more than a bye week filler.

Martellus Bennett (TE, NYG) - Bennett is coming along in the Giants offense and if Bradshaw misses any more time Eli will be throwing more.

Denarius Moore (WR, OAK) - Ford is gone for the season and Moore if finally healthy.  Palmer has not been doing as well as we would like, plus Moore is injury prone.

Jason Avant (WR, PHI) - Maclin is shaking off an injury so Avant would be the WR to own there, but his production will be questionable.

Josh Freeman (QB, TB) - looked solid against the Giants Def and should be worthy of a bench spot for bye weeks and injury spot starts.

2 Star Pick-ups

Anthony McCoy (TE, SEA) - interesting pick in the Seahawks offense.  Keep an eye on him and see if he can produce two weeks in a row.

Andre Roberts (WR, ARZ) - Roberts keep finding the endzone, but he is still not the most reliable WR out there, but if you are in a pinch then look his way.

Kevin Kolb (QB, ARZ) - looked good against a solid NE defense, worth keeping an eye on Kolb for now.

Brian Hartline (WR, MIA) - another PPR potential, he is finding a way to put up a number of catches, but only use him if you are in rough situation.

1 Star Pick-ups

Donnie Avery (WR, IND) - he is fools gold for PPR due to Austin Collie going to return in the next week.

Armon Binns/Ben Tate (WR, CIN) - keep an eye on these WR’s, but just like Andrew Hawkins it could be up and down with you hoping for Dalton to look their way.

Scott Chandler (TE, BUF) - keep an eye on him but he is an up and down type TE.

Bilal Powell (RB, NYJ) - if Greene were to be out then Powell will get the load.  He is a spot starter at best.

  1. I lost Hernandez in a standard league... Who do you like best to replace him? Gonzales, Pitta, Fleener, or Olsen?

Also, do you like Collie, Amendola, Crabtree, or Sidney Rice most as a WR4 in a standard league.

Lastly, in one league I have Brady at QB with Luck as backup, and in the other, Ryan with Locker as backup. If you needed to free up a roster spot in both leagues, how much would you value holding onto these backups? Guys like Dalton and Cassel are there, for possible bye week replacements...

    Thanks!!!

    1. Gonzalez for sure
Rice has most upside but Crabtree is much safer you can go Crabtree.
      I would hold onto Luck
      I would drop Locker

  2. Need advice. In a ppr league I can trade Alf Morris and Dwyer and get Meachem and Chris Johnson in return. Neither CJ nor Alf would be starters for me.
    Thanks Hatty!

  4. Very cool site! I see you have Anthony Mccoy listed. I added him to my watch list in a dynasty league, do you see him being the TE for the seahawks from now on?
