2012 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 9

Tim Fuller - US PRESSWIRE
The fantasy season is flying by and we need to be stacking up our benches getting ready for the play-offs. Keep working the waiver wire hard.

5 Star Pick-ups

Rashad Jennings (RB, JAX) - he was my top pick-up from last week and the only reason he is here again is because he better not be on your waiver wire, but if he happens to be there he is a must grab.

Randall Cobb/James Jones (WR, GB) - these two should not be on the wire, but if they are then grab them.Heath Miller (TE, PIT) - if he is still on your waiver wire he is worth owning especially in TD leagues as he tends to find the end-zone almost weekly.

Titus Young (WR, DET) - With Nate Burleson out now with a broken leg Titus Young had to pick it up and he did perform.  He is the waiver wire pick-up of the week, but do know he has some boom/bust potential from week to week.

4 Star Pick-ups

Kendall Wright (WR, TEN) - Hasselbeck looks to Wright frequently and Wright has a solid number of receptions on the season for PPR leaguers.

Dexter McCluster (WR/RB, KC) - even on a terrible offense McCluster is finding a way to produce solid fantasy numbers.  He is a grab for sure for the remainder of the bye weeks.

Jonathan Dwyer (RB, PIT) - showing solid production for two weeks in a row and will continue to get carries in PIT.  Worth rostering in any format.  Keep an eye on his injury.

Dustin Keller (TE, NYJ) - a healthy Keller is a nice back-up if you are hurting during the bye week or filling in for an injury.

Shane Vereen (RB, NE) - as long as Brandon Bolden is out with an injury Vereen will be the main back-up in NE.  RB’s tend to get a bunch of garbage time yards in NE.  Vereen is worth rostering.

Jaquizz Rodgers (RB, ATL) - Rodgers is getting more and more involved and is worth rostering in all leagues at this point.  One injury to Turner and Rodgers will be a weekly starter.

Joique Bell (RB, DET) - if LeShoure were to miss any time Detroit would feature Bell who would make a solid PPR play weekly while LeShoure is out.  Keep an eye on the news.  He is an interesting grab as LeShoure was sat the fourth quarter of this week’s game in favor of Bell.

Danny Amendola (WR, StL) - if you have the space and willing to wait then Amendola will be ready in a couple weeks for your play-off run.

Donald Brown (RB, IND) - did someone drop Brown, if so go ahead and grab him.  Looks like he will be splitting carries with Vick Ballard.

3 Star Pick-ups

Andre Brown (RB, NYG) - must hand-cuff for Bradshaw owners; still don’t see Bradshaw remaining healthy enough for the entire season.

Chris Givens (WR, StL) - Has caught a 50 yard catch in five straight games; he is an interesting waiver wire target, but tough to start at this point.

Josh Gordon (WR, CLE) - worth a look in PPR leagues with TD upside.  Should only be used in bye week and injury spot starts at this point, but his arrow is pointing up.

Ryan Broyles (WR, DET) - young rookie that is now a starter with Burleson out.  He is only a flex play at best in Detroit and will be boom/bust type start weekly.

Vick Ballard (RB, IND) - I am not very excited about Ballard with Brown starting to come back Ballard’s workload will continue to decline.  One thing to note is that he did start with Brown back but it’s believed that Brown will retake his starting role soon.

2 Star Pick-ups

Matt Moore (QB, MIA) - Tannenhill will most likely be back, but Moore is worth watching as he looked strong when he came in for the injury.

1 Star Pick-ups

Ronnie Brown (RB, SD) - he is starting to make catches so keep an eye on him in PPR leagues, but I don’t see him doing too much as long as Ryan Mathews is healthy.

  1. Who would you rather have ROS in a standard league? Amendola or Hartline? I like Hartline's upcoming schedule but find it hard to trust him. Thanks!

    1. It's a fairly dead heat there... A healthy Amendola is fairly dangerous but Hartline is a much safer option.

  2. PPR do I sell CJ?K for Brandon Lloyd leaving me with T-Rich, Ray Rice and Alex Green at RB and Bowe, Torry Smith and Denarius Moore at WR?
We play 2 RBs, 2 WRs, TE and flex.

    1. You could get so much more for CJ then Lloyd... if you want to see him make sure you get a top tier WR.

  3. I've got M. Turner, F. Jackson, A. Green, and M. LeShoure. We start 2 RB's non PPR. D. Brown is available, should I make a move to get him? Would have to drop 1 of my 4.

  4. Long winded sorry but possible block buster deal:
    12 person PPR Flex league:(record 3-5)
    RB:Rice, CJ?K, T. Richardson, Alex Green
WR:Torrey Smith, Dwayne Bowe, Denarius Moore, Greg Jennings
    QB: Peyton, Romo

    Do I gamble and Trade:
    CJ?K/T. Richardson/Bowe/Jennings/Romo

    Get:
    Jonathon Stewart/LeSean McCoy/Kevin Walter/Steve Johnson/Alex Smith

    Thanks Hatty!

    1. I like getting McCoy (do you start 2 or 3 RB's?) if you start three RB's then I don't think it's worth is as Stewart is not guaranteed to produce.

I would want McCoy and a very solid WR in a trade like this... so McCoy and a Julio Jones for CJ/TRich/Bowe/Jennings/Romo. I don't see how Stewart Walter, Stevie and Alex help you.

  5. Thanks for the info. I just sort of like having the bye weeks out of the way for McCoy and Stewart and J Stew taking over as a featured back. CJ?K could start to sputter (again) when he faces 2 tough Ds (Bears, Fins) then a bye week. A. Smith and Walter are waiver fodder while Stevie J. for Bowe is sort of a lateral move.
Thanks again for the help you offered!!!

  6. Hatty,

I have a problem! Half of my team is injured. I picked up Earl Bennett and put him in my flex spot and picked up LaRod-Stephens Howlings for a running back position. Do you think these were right choices as they was nothing left on waiver wire. Any suggestions?

FYI here is my current lineup:
    Peyton Manning - QB
    Vick Ballard - RB
    LaRod Stephens-Howling - RB
    Jordy Nelson - WR
    Cecil Shorts - WR
    Jason Whitten - TE
    Earl Bennett - Flex
    Texans - Defense
    Janikowski - kicker

    BENCH:
    Sproles - Out
Donald Brown - Doubtful to play
    Mendenhall - Doubtful
    Amendola - Bye
    Dennis Pitta - TE
    Jeremy Kerley - Bye
    Pierre Garcon - Out

What do you think? I don't know what to do, any help would be very much appreciated!!!
