2012 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 6

Vincent Pugliese - US PRESSWIRE
Are you ready for next week?  Hope you have been reading this weekly as you would have players like Rashard Mendenhall, Mikel LeShoure, Andy Dalton, and many great weekly spot starts like Andre Brown.

5 Star Pickups

Rashard Mendenhall (RB, PIT) - he has been on this list every week and hopefully you picked him up a long time ago.  If he is still on your waiver wire then please make sure to pick him up now.

James Jones (WR, GB) - I have been talking this guy up while Jennings is gone. He is the one to own and start in GB.

Andy Dalton (QB, CIN) - how many times have I said to pick him up. Please grab Dalton at least for a backup QB option.

Devery Henderson (WR, NO) - if Lance Moore is still out after the Saints bye week next week you can start Henderson.

4 Star Pickups

Jahvid Best (RB, DET) - Best is a gamble at this point but if you are in a PPR league he is worth stashing right now. He is available on a ton of waiver wires right now.

Williams Powell (RB, ARZ) - Ryan Williams is done for the year and Chris Wells can not come back for a while, so Powell is a starting RB on the waiver wire and at the the very least worthy of a bench spot.

Vick Ballard (RB, IND) - Donald Brown is having his knee scoped and Vick Ballard will take on the starting RB role in Indy. Look for Ballard to get solid usage but Mewelde Moore will get in on all passing downs so Ballard is not as hot in PPR leagues.

Alex Green/James Starks (RB, GB) - Benson is out and Alex Green will make a nice fill-in spot. James Starks would be a bigger gamble for week 6, so if you need someone this week then look to Green. If you have some additional space James Starks offers more rest of season upside.

Kyle Rudolph (TE, MIN) - if you are looking for a TE then go with Rudolph next week. He goes up against the last ranked pass defense and should find the end-zone again.

Kenny Britt (WR, TEN) - did not do well this week but is worth stashing for another week to see if he turns the corner. He offers the most season long potential.

Andrew Hawkins (WR, CIN) - seems to make my list frequently but with good reason. Solid PPR play during byes weeks and injuries.

Andrew Luck (QB, IND) - he makes the list weekly for good reason. If you are needing a spot filler then start Luck.

3 Star Pickups

Andre Roberts (WR, ARZ) - still a great bye week filler in TD only leagues.

Brandon Gibson (WR, StL) - Amendola is done for a little while and Gibson is the #1 WR is StL which is not saying much. If you start him you must know that he is a gamble.

Rueben Randle (WR, NYG) - Hixon appears to have fallen behind Randle and as long as Nicks is out then Randle is the better WR to own.

Kendall Wright (WR, TEN) - Hasselbeck looks Wrights way frequently and is a solid bye week PPR filler.

Randal Cobb (WR, GB) - not as good a play as James Jones but if Benson is out next week Cobb could also be the third down RB. Has upside if you are hurting for a WR next week.

Matt Hasselbeck (QB, TEN) - Hasselbeck is a fine bye week fill in QB while Locker is out.

2 Star Pickups

Shaun Draughn (RB, KC) - hand cuff only at this point for Charles owners but not a worthy starter.

Scott Chandler (TE, BUF) - he is up and down but if you are hurting at TE you could gamble here as he does did the end-zone on occasion.

Brady Quinn (QB, KC) - if Cassel is out due to his concussion and you are short a QB then you can gamble on Quinn but not the best option.

Golden Tate (WR, SEA) - been putting up usable numbers but is still too up and down to make a starter at this point.

1 Star Pickups

Kirk Cousins (QB, WAS) - only usable if RGIII is out and you have no other options.

  1. Hatty Guru 911, Help!!!!!, my two RBs injured on Sunday, Cedric Benson & Ryan Williams , stud WR Hakeem Nicks spending most Sundays at home instead of playing.

Any advice on some WR or RB two replace those injured players. Alex Green or Starks from GB?

    1. You need to go with Alex Green to start this week, grab William Powell as well... if you have extra space you can stash Jahvid Best as well.

  2. What are your thoughts on NYJ WR Stephen Hill? He's available on the waivers in my PPR league.

    1. You can stash Hill right now, when he has fully recovered he should be fairly solid, but still up an down in production on most Sunday's due to the QB situation.

  3. the above advice is from a "waiver wire guru"??? seems pretty gumball-ish to me almost like an unsure fortuneteller giving out "futures" with a two sided explanation

    1. No worries, waiver wire deep digging has an element of "fortunetelling" to it. I have been doing this for many years and have a fairly solid track record. There are other sources available so if you don't like my advice then no worries, but if I do find you one piece of waiver wire gold that you pick-up and start it's hard to argue with that.
